Lasagna is one of the most beloved Italian dishes around the world, and it’s no surprise that this classic comfort food continues to be a favorite for many. But for those who want to step it up a notch, why not try making lasagna with ricotta cheese and Italian sausage? This twist on the classic dish adds an extra layer of flavor and texture, perfect for those looking for something a little more special.
This lasagna recipe with ricotta cheese and Italian sausage is sure to please everyone at the dinner table. With layers of pasta, ricotta cheese, Italian sausage, and melted mozzarella cheese, there’s no doubt that this lasagna will be the star of the show. Not only is the dish delicious, but it’s also easy to make and requires minimal effort. Plus, it can be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen, making it ideal for busy weeknights or entertaining.
The first step to making this delicious lasagna is to preheat your oven to 350°F. Next, you’ll need to prepare the ingredients, which include one pound of Italian sausage, two cloves of garlic, one small onion, one jar of marinara sauce, one package of lasagna noodles, one cup of ricotta cheese, one egg, and one cup of mozzarella cheese.
Begin by browning the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the sausage is cooked through, add the garlic and onion and cook until the vegetables are softened. Once cooked, drain off any excess fat from the skillet and set the mixture aside.
In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, and one cup of mozzarella cheese. This will be used as the cheese filling for the lasagna.
Now it’s time to assemble the lasagna. Start by spreading a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of the baking dish. Then, place three lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of the cooked Italian sausage. Top the sausage layer with another layer of noodles, followed by a thin layer of marinara sauce. Repeat this layering process until you have used up all of your ingredients. Finish by topping the lasagna with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into it and serving. Enjoy!
